The Disney World MISTAKE You’ll Make in March
Published: February 22, 2024
Do you have a trip planned for Disney World in March?
Your trip is so close you are probably counting down the days. Transportation, accommodations, and park tickets have probably been settled. You may have even considered purchasing the Disney Dining Plan or ordered Magic Bands for your trip. BUT what about the things you probably did NOT think about?!
We aren’t here to bring down the mood, but instead, we are here to remind you of the mistakes to NOT make when visiting Disney World this March.
Not Noting Important Dates
The 2024 EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival takes place from February 28th to May 27th. This means, that if you plan on visiting EPCOT in March, you might want to plan ahead. There is so much to see and do during this festival that it can get overwhelming. Do not worry! We have plenty of planning resources (like a list of menus for this year’s festival) to help craft a plan before you visit!
This festival is a must-do at EPCOT. From tasty eats and fun-themed topiaries, there is something for everyone to enjoy at this festival.
While March Madness might not take place at Disney World, it is still important to note the dates. March Madness starts on March 17th and will run until April 8th. So what does this have to do with visiting Disney World? We expect bars and lounges to be pretty full when games are being played. Many bars and lounges on Disney World property have TVs. If you want to watch the tournament play out we suggest watching at City Works or Rix Sports Bar.
If basketball is not your thing, it is still important to be aware of potential crowds wanting to see the games. Make sure to make your dining reservations in advance to avoid long wait times, especially on game days.
Visiting during Super Crowded Times
Not only is March Madness happening, but two holidays take place this March. The first of these is St. Patrick’s Day. This year, St. Patrick’s Day lands on Sunday, March 17th. If you plan to go to the parks on this day, make sure to review the rules of the Park Pass Reservation system. If you are planning on celebrating the holiday, we suggest dining at Raglan Road over in Disney Springs. Don’t forget to make a dining reservation in advance!
Along with St. Patrick’s Day, Easter falls on the last weekend of March, with Easter being March 31st. The holidays draw crowds at Disney World. In past years, there has been a special Easter Parade that takes place in Magic Kingdom only on Easter Weekend. If you want a chance at seeing it, make sure you are all squared away on your Park Pass Reservation.
Not only are the Holidays a busy time at Disney World, but there are certain weekends were ESPN Wide World of Sports hosts special events. In March ESPN Wide World of Sports will be hosting The Quest Championship from March 8th-9th along with the 2024 UCA All-Star National Championship from March 9th-10th. The final event for the month is Disney Spring Training which runs from March 11th all the way until April 7th.
If you find yourself attending one of these events this year, you can check out the ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill.
Counting on Closed Attractions
While the walls have been coming down around EPCOT, there are still closures to be aware of during March. So far three attractions will not be available to guests. The Country Bear Jamboree over in Magic Kingdom will remain closed until the summer of 2024. Over in Animal Kingdom, Kali River Rapids will remain closed until mid-March. Finally, in Hollywood Studios, Rockin’ Rollercoaster Staring Aerosmith will be closed. It is anticipated to re-open in the summer of 2024.
If you are staying on property, going to the pool is a huge perk to have. Unfortunately, during the colder months, Disney tends to do maintenance on the different resort pools. If you are staying at Disney’s All-Star Movies resort, the Fantasia pool will be closed through April. Over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, The Fuentes del Morro pool will be closed through March. And finally, the Doubloon Lagoon over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter will also be closed through April.
Hopefully, these reminders will help you have a successful and fun trip this March at Disney World!
