A Disney Celebrity Is Now…CEO of a Space Startup?!
Published: February 20, 2024
Many Disney Channel stars have moved on from their Disney days and ventured into the world of acting in different ways. Zach Efron has taken on more comedic, gritty movies, Selena Gomez is currently starring in a TV show, and Olivia Rodrigo is solely focusing on music!
But we haven’t heard of any Disney Channel star doing tech and space like this one is!
Former Disney Channel star Bridget Mendler, known for shows like Good Luck Charlie and Wizards of Waverly Place, has just become the CEO of space startup Northwood Space, based in El Segundo, California!
CNBC reports Mendler’s vision is “a data highway between Earth and space.” Northwood’s aim is to build large quantities of ground stations, which are the big circular antenna devices that connect to satellites in space. Mendler’s startup has already attracted $6 million in initial funding from investors!
One of the goals of Mendler’s Northwood Space company is to offer Space companies similar capabilities that those who rent servers from Amazon or Microsoft get! The startup is set to start connectivity testing later this year on their ground stations.
We’re really interested to see where this takes Bridget Mendler, as this company looks to be in incredible hands and on the road to success. Remember to stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more news updates!
